It boasts an 1,100 square km training area, 1,500 km of roads, 900 km of tracks and 740 buildings.As such, 5 CDSB Gagetown is the second largest military base in Canada and the largest military facility in Eastern Canada.The Base and its lodger units provide full-time employment to approximately 6,500 military members, including the Reserve Force, and 1,000 civilians.The Base contributes over 200 million dollars to the local economy and more than 700 million to the provincial economy annually.
Base employees and their families represent roughly 75 of the 10 thousand residents of Oromocto. CDSB Gagetown provides services to the town of Oromocto, including water and sewer treatment to the residents. The training area and facilities are used regularly by units from other Canadian Armed Forces Bases, Reserve units, Cadets, civilian police forces and even American military units. There is on average an additional 10,000 personnel training annually on the Base. These are just some of the services available on the Community Gateway site. ![]() For personnel under the age of 40 the requirement is every 5 years, and for those over the age of 40 the requirement is every 2 years. ![]() Should you need to cancel or rebook an appointment, 48 hours notification is desired. If a member is not present for their appointment, their Unit will be notified. At this appointment you will discuss the general surgical process, including medical care, associated services and administrative processes such as sick leave and return to duty. Recent injuriesconditions can be seen by a Physiotherapist on Sick Parade, or can be referred by your CDU clinician. The CHN also serves as a liaison between the base and civilian hospital. When a member visits a civilian hospital they can expect this nurse to follow their progress and assist the hospital with discharge andor follow up. The team is located in building A-337, directly behind the base clinic. ![]() Members are referred to Case Management by their CDU clinician.
